Are you a mechanically minded engineer with a passion for engines? We’re supporting a fast-growing renewable energy business that operates landfill gas-to-energy sites across the UK and they’re now hiring a Field Service Engineer to cover their Northern region.

Whether you're a power generation tech, ex-car mechanic, or someone from a hands-on engineering background looking to get into renewables, this is a great opportunity to work autonomously, get paid door-to-door, and join a team with a proven track record of developing engineers.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Operate and maintain gas engines on landfill power generation sites
  • Conduct fault finding and reactive maintenance
  • Perform routine servicing and minor overhauls
  • Carry out daily checks and performance reporting
  • Liaise with the wider team and support engine uptime
  • Take part in a 1-in-5 on-call rota once the team is fully staffed
  • Travel between sites (travel time paid); occasional overnight stays for major overhauls
Who We’re Looking For
Essential:
  • Mechanical background (e.g. engines, plant, automotive, HGV, generators)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willing to travel and work flexibly (this isn’t a 9-5)
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with reciprocating engines in power gen, CHP or AD
  • Ex-forces or self-employed mechanics with strong initiative
  • Passion for engines, many in the team are hobbyist car enthusiasts
Why This Role?
  • £40k–£45k base salary (DOE); entry-level starts considered
  • Overtime paid after 45 hours/week
  • Door-to-door pay
  • Company van, tools and uniform
  • Opportunity to grow with a business reinvesting in people and sustainability
  • Clear progression pathway from junior to lead engineer
