The Role
You’ll be responsible for detailed mechanical and pipework designs that bring large-scale green infrastructure projects to life from site layout to commissioning support.
This includes:
- Creating accurate 2D and 3D mechanical and piping layouts using AutoCAD Plant 3D
- Translating P&IDs into real-world pipework designs that consider cost, operability and maintainability
- Designing standard mechanical equipment packages for in-house manufacturing
- Supporting the project engineer during construction and commissioning to ensure installation matches design intent
- Producing bill of materials, equipment lists and supporting tendering/RFQ documentation
- Maintaining and updating the master drawing files, libraries and standards
- Considering safety, material compatibility and ergonomic access at all stages
- Regular engagement with engineers, suppliers and construction teams
What You’ll Need
- Degree-qualified or time-served mechanical/piping designer
- Proficient in AutoCAD Plant 3D and/or Inventor
- Knowledge of mechanical and piping design codes (e.g., EN13480, ASME B31.3)
- Comfortable working from P&IDs, layout drawings and process specs
- Able to balance detail accuracy with overall plant efficiency
- A proactive, safety-conscious approach to your work
- Organised, communicative, and adaptable to changing project priorities
- Experience in biogas, AD, process or utility sectors is advantageous
