Are you a hands-on, adaptable engineer with strong mechanical skills and experience working in fast-paced process environments? Are you looking to join a future-focused, sustainable business where your engineering skills can make a difference?

We’re supporting a well-established renewable energy company in their search for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Shift Engineer for their cutting-edge Anaerobic Digestion and Category 3 transfer site in Dagenham.

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a growing team in a key engineering role at the heart of a site producing green energy and fertiliser from food waste helping divert thousands of tonnes from landfill every year.

The Role
As a Shift Engineer, you'll:

  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of plant assets (motors, gearboxes, valves, pumps, etc.)
  • Undertake risk assessments, log all activity, and ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently
  • Support projects, continuous improvement, and modern manufacturing initiatives
  • Carry out mechanical repairs including bearing replacements, pipework, valves, seals, and couplings
  • Work a 4-on-4-off rotating shift pattern (12-hour days and nights)
  • Support external contractors, attend training, and contribute to site-wide performance
You’ll be part of a well-resourced maintenance team, with the opportunity to cross-train and upskill as you progress.

Who We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you should have:
  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship
  • Minimum CGLI or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong hands-on mechanical experience (process or AD background a major plus)
  • Familiarity with pumps (centrifugal, lobe, diaphragm, screw), valves, pneumatics, and pipework
  • Comfortable working at height and applying LOTO systems for isolations
  • A flexible, safety-first mindset and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Basic IT skills and clear, professional communication

Dual-skilled (mechanical/electrical) candidates are highly desirable, though not essential.

What’s On Offer
  • Full-time, permanent role in the green energy sector
  • Competitive salary and company benefits
  • Structured development and career progression
  • The chance to work on a modern, high-tech AD plant
  • Opportunity to build on your skills in a growing industry
